Cougar Classic Raffle Rules and Regulations

1. General. By participating in the Saint Xavier University Cougar Classic Raffle (“Raffle”) entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of Saint Xavier University ("SXU"), which shall be binding and final as to all matters related to the Raffle. The Raffle is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and is void where prohibited.

2. SXU Proceeds. All proceeds benefit Saint Xavier University, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and the scholarships SXU supports. These scholarships aim to reduce tuition for students.

3. Eligibility. The Raffle is open to all persons age eighteen (18) and older and is subject to these Official Rules. Internet sales of Raffle Tickets are open ONLY TO RESIDENTS OF ILLINOIS. Online purchase of Raffle tickets are VOID OUTSIDE ILLINOIS AND WHEREVER PROHIBITED BY LAW; winners from online sales of Raffle tickets will be required to provide SXU with a valid Illinois mailing address. Anyone purchasing a raffle ticket online outside of Illinois will be considered a donation.

4. Purchasing Raffle Tickets. All Raffle Tickets may be purchased as follows: one (1) Raffle Ticket for $50.00 or five (5) for $200.00; There are no discounts or complimentary Raffle Tickets. Online Raffle Tickets will be sold until 11:59pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. Raffle Tickets will be sold as follows:

(A) Online. Visit https://connect.sxu/Raffle2022 (the "Website") and follow the directions to purchase.

(B) In Person.  Anyone at the Golf Classic can purchase raffle tickets.

5. Raffle Tickets are Not Tax Deductible. The IRS has taken the position that amounts paid for chances to participate in raffles, lotteries, or similar programs are not gifts and, therefore, the price of the entry does not qualify as a deductible charitable contribution.

6. Selection of Winner. Three raffle tickets will drawn by SXU to determine the winner of the prize. On August 11th, after dinner at the 26th Annual Golf Classic and Silver Lake Country Club, SXU will pull one winner for each prize.

7. Prize Claim. Within thirty (30) days of the applicable drawing, the prize claimant must be confirmed by email (advancement@sxu.edu) or phone (773-298-5170) and proof of identity to SXU to claim a prize. In the event a claimant: (a) does not notify SXU within thirty (30) days of the applicable drawing; (b) is ruled ineligible for any reason; or (c) refuses the prize; the prize will be forfeited and will be retained by SXU for charitable use.

8. Odds. The odds of winning the Raffle depend on the number of Raffle Tickets purchased for the applicable drawing.

9. Judges. The Raffle will be conducted and supervised by SXU, whose decisions are final. SXU reserves the right to modify these Official Rules at any time. SXU reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend the Raffle should unauthorized human intervention or other causes corrupt the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper operation of the Raffle.

10. Governing Law. The Raffle and these Official Rules shall be subject to and governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. If a court of competent jurisdiction finds that any provision of these Official Rules, or their application to a particular persons or circumstances, is invalid or unenforceable to any extent, then the remainder of these Official Rules shall remain enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law. The venue for any cause of action arising out of the Raffle or these Official Rules shall be located in Cook County, Illinois.
